It feels like everything has slowed way down since James left. I’m not rushing madly to pick him up from school in time or trying to remember if this is his late day because of Spanish or maybe it’s Science Club….? Never thought I’d miss that, but while I love whiling away the lazy days of summer with no schedule to speak of, I’d trade it if it meant seeing him more. Still, we’re lucky he has so much fun at his dad’s during the summer and enjoys being there.

This was a really kick back week for us. Our biggest adventure was taking Grant with us to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner on Friday. He slept through the first half of the meal but when he woke up we were ready, armed with bananas and chunks of bread for him. He chewed happily on his nanners and after he threw most of those on the ground, he just gnawed on whatever he could get to….a linen napkin, a hunk of tomato from Kenny’s salad, the edge of the granite table. He enjoyed all of it. But he didn’t disrupt the other diners, so that was the main thing.

After that we wandered through Barnes and Noble, Kenny leafing through the computer and art books and me in the fiction stacks. I bought way more books than I need. Some time this week I need to write down what my queue looks like of things I mean to get to that I already own, and see how ridiculous it is for me to buy more books.

I bet I still buy more books, anyway. Sigh.

Other than blogging, reading blogs, and writing, writing, writing, Kenny and I got caught up on So You Think You Can Dance (me: Will, Chelsie H. and Joshua, him: Kherington and Twitch). We watched half of Ghost Rider with Nicholas Cage (dumbest movie we’ve watched so far this year) and I read a lot. Of course. Saturday I spent the day at a writing conference where I discovered that some people still don’t know what “LDS” means and other people still equate us with the Amish. Thank you, FLDS. Aaargh.

Saturday Kenny discovered the joys of On Demand TV and so we spent time checking out all the free stuff we could get and then cruising the list of new releases.

Kenny also did a fabulous job of organizing the garage and it looks so nice! Now that he’ll be working form home a couple of days a week, he wants his work space comfortable and organized and who can blame him? Not me! Not if it means an organized garage.

Sunday we finally went back to our own ward! Yay! It feels like we haven’t been there in forever because we’ve been out of town so much, so it was nice to be back. All day long people kept telling us how old baby Grant looked. They're right!

Sniff.

Even though he's eight months old, I still think of him as my little baby (more like this). After church we had a couple from our ward, the Curfews, come over for dinner. They were a lot of fun! Emily grew up in Louisiana, too, and so we speak the same food language. She’s James’s primary teacher and we waned to have them over for dinner when James was still here but our schedules never quite worked so we’ll have to do it again when he comes back. We did Asian spareribs in a ginger dipping sauce. She made an awesome homemade mac and cheese and I did Uncle Harvey’s corn recipe. Then we had a strawberry pineapple mousse for dessert. It wasn’t the best but it wasn’t that bad. The company was great, though, and that’s the most important thing.

Re: Just Hangin' Out

Love the bananas and bread for the little ones at Cheesecake! We went there for lunch today and Emily enjoyed her plate!
